Good manners for good leather
A Companion for the long journey
A Delvaux creation is designed to accompany you for many years, preferably several decades and, with any luck, another generation after that.
Leather, however, is wonderfully alive. It remembers the places it has been, the hands that have carried it, and occasionally the weather. A little care from time to time will help it age with remarkable grace.
Protecting your Delvaux
Your Delvaux enjoys a thoughtful life.
* It prefers to avoid prolonged encounters with rain, perfume, cosmetics, oils, and anything containing alcohol. While adventurous by nature, it draws the line at unnecessary stains.
* Strong sunlight and intense heat are equally discouraged. They have a habit of altering colours and shapes without asking permission.
* Should your bag encounter rain, simply dab it gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and allow it to dry naturally, away from any sources of heat.
* Leather is also rather sociable, and prolonged contact between light and dark colours may occasionally lead to colour transfer between your Delvaux and your clothing. A little distance is sometimes the kindest thing.
* Travelling light also has its advantages. Overfilling your Delvaux may affect its elegant silhouette, which has worked rather hard to achieve.
Maintaining your Delvaux
A gentle wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth every now and then does wonders.
* Our Leather Care Kit has been developed to nourish and protect your Delvaux over time. Before using it, simply ensure it is suitable for your particular leather.

Preserving your Delvaux
When not accompanying you, your Delvaux appreciates a quiet place to rest.
* Store it in its protective cover, away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight. A little tissue paper inside will help it keep its elegant posture until your next adventure.

Everything your Delvaux needs for excellent manners at home.
Our Leather Care Kit includes a nourishing leather cream, a polishing glove and a Delvaux chamois, each developed to preserve the leather's natural beauty for years to come.
The Delvaux leather care kit can be used on the following leathers: Box Calf, Joy Calf, Supple Calf, Jumping Calf, Sellier Calf, Taurillon Soft, Tempo Calf, Zele Calf, Alpina Calf, Domino, Derby Calf, Opera Calf and Silky Calf.

Embroidery
Embroidery prefers admiration to unnecessary pressure. Avoid crushing, knocking or flattening it while wearing or storing your Delvaux, so every stitch remains exactly where it intended to be.
Shearling
Shearling and heavy rain have never been particularly close. If your Delvaux gets wet, gently dab it with an absorbent cloth and allow it to air dry naturally.
Cashmere & Silk
Cashmere and silk appreciate a quieter pace of life. Store them carefully folded and laid flat to preserve their shape and remarkable softness.
Metal accessories
A little polish goes a long way. Wipe the hardware with a soft microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints. Should it encounter perfume, alcohol or other chemical products, rinse gently with water and dry immediately.
Wicker
Wicker enjoys fresh air. Dust, rather less. A soft bristle brush or feather duster will keep it looking its best. Should it encounter water, simply dab it gently with an absorbent cloth.
Rhinestones
Rhinestones were made to catch the light, not hard knocks. Handle them with care and avoid unnecessary impact to preserve their brilliance.
Jacquard
Every thread has found its place for a reason. If your Jacquard comes into contact with moisture, gently dab it with a soft, clean cloth to absorb the excess, then leave it to air dry naturally. A little care will help preserve the beauty of its intricate weave.
Canvas
Canvas is wonderfully resilient, though not entirely invincible. A soft cloth and gentle cleaning are usually all it asks. For more persistent marks, our artisans will be delighted to help.
Felt
Felt has an unfortunate tendency to collect little souvenirs from its travels. A soft bristle or adhesive brush will happily remove any dust. Should a stain appear, treat it promptly with a damp cloth and, if needed, a little mild soap.
